ESCAROUPIM, SALVATERRA DE MAGOS

About 7 km from Salvaterra de Magos is the village of Escaroupim , an excellent option to spend a weekend, or just Saturday or Sunday and enjoy the calm and tranquility for those who want to escape Lisbon, which is about 70 km from Lisbon on the N 118.

Escaroupim is a typical fishing village, formed in the mid-1930s. Alves Redol called “river nomads” these families who during the winter months moved from Vieira de Leiria to the Tagus River , for winter fishing campaigns, returning in the summer to his homeland to fish in the sea.
